Celebrating Alexis Harney, LMFT!
We’ve got some exciting news: Alexis Harney has become licensed to practice independently in California! The journey to licensure is a long one for therapists, requiring 2-3 years of graduate school, multiple board examinations, and 3000 hours of supervised experience. This is a major life accomplishment for Alexis; please join us in congratulating her!
We are very proud of Alexis’ growth and the consistent quality of care she has provided her clients since she joined our practice in October 2022. In particular, she has demonstrated a special talent for working with complex trauma and attachment issues. Early on in her time with us, she went through EMDR therapy training. Since then, this groundbreaking trauma therapy has become one of her primary modalities, and she has shown a special ability to understand when clients are well-resourced enough to begin the brave work of processing trauma. This has led to high levels of trust with her clients and incredible outcomes, particularly for those with longstanding trauma. We know she will continue to offer the kind of excellent care we pride ourselves on as a practice.
Alexis has no plans to depart our practice, so if you’re working with her, your care will not be interrupted. In fact, nothing about how her clients receive care will appear any different. With licensure, she is no longer required to receive weekly clinical supervision. She will participate in ongoing clinical consultation as is standard practice for our field. She also has the opportunity to pursue licensure by endorsement in other states. We know licensure is already in process for her in the state of Florida, with other possibilities to be determined.
Outside of individual client triumphs and successes, it is rare for therapists to get an opportunity to take stock of their career to date and be celebrated. We’re very glad to have this opportunity to celebrate Alexis, and plan to continue with an in-person celebration at our annual staff retreat later this summer.
If you’re interested in working with Alexis or any of our EMDR therapists, you can book a consult.
Yours in good mental health,
Clinical Director at Laurel Therapy Collective and Alexis’ Proud (Former) Clinical Supervisor
